My photo
John and I have 3 kiddos, Lucy 8, Mady Kate 5, and Jack is 19 months. I am a stay at home mom except for I'm not home very much. I also "stage" houses part-time. My alarm goes off at 6 am, but I push snooze at least 5 times before I get up. I want to write a book, but have no time. I sew but I can't follow a pattern. Love Patsy Cline. I think old people are cute and I am sad if I see one sitting alone in a restaurant. I have a beautiful voice in the shower. I hate bugs and love to swim. I'm obsessed with polka dots and sour candy. White linens and great fabrics make me smile. I love where we live and I believe that I have the most super friends ever. My middle child is just like me and I am super nervous about that:). Lucy, my oldest, gets my humor and laughs at my jokes. She is way smarter than I ever was. Jack is precious and all boy.I love them all so much. God has blessed me so. I never thought at 30 I would be the mother of 3 and drive them around in my minivan!!!!! Right now I am still cool, I give it 2 years...

Beat down

I took the kiddos to the doctor today to get their flu shots. We had to wait a few minutes in the waiting room with everyone else in DeSoto county. As you know Jack has started walking and he would rather stand than to sit in my lap now. I had to sign a vaccine form for each of them. I had a clip board with all 3 papers in my lap, Jack standing in front of me and the girls were on either side. All of the sudden, this big hoss of a child comes around the corner and walks straight up to Jack and pats him on the head. Then he pats a little harder, harder, harder and then he hits my sweet baby love as hard as he could " about the head". Jack starts screaming and the child's father comes running saying, "No NO NO, stop hitting!!!!" The man apologizes and then asked how old Jack was. Come to find out Jack and "Mike Tyson" were the same age. I think they were putting steroids in his bottle because he was huge and( remember I love babies, but)... He was mean looking. Jack's first school yard fight and he lost. Next I'm expecting John to teach him self -defense or whatever. I told John than Jack didn't lose the fight, he just turned the other..cheek..
Happy Thanksgiving all!!!!

Do you sleep on a pillow?

The answer is probably yes. Yes, you put your head on a pillow. Not Jack. He sleeps on the whole pillow. Loved it and had to share.

I love my friends. I have been so blessed all of my life to have wonderful supportive friends. I have friends who would give me the shirt off their backs, friends who would cook a meal for my family if I were unable to, friends that I could call and could call me in the middle of the night without question. Old friends, new friends, I love them all!!!!!
Today I was able to talk to an old friend. We both had our baby boys last July and we had not talked in over a year. We met in the third grade and we have kept in touch since. She's one of those friends that as soon as we start talking it's like we were never apart. I love the sound effects that she makes as we are talking, just like she did in the third grade!!!! Thanks Tiff!!!! You absolutely made my day!! Can't wait to see you in Jena!!!!
Thanks to all of my friends. You know who you are girls and I love each of you more than you know.
I get to work tomorrow. Shopping for Christmas decor for John's office( inside and out). Yippee!
side note- does anyone know the laundry fairy. I really need her to come by.

video

We all were in Lucy and Mady Kate's room tonight showing John that Jack has learned to climb up the ladder to Lucy's bed. The girls turned on their kid cd and Jack started dancing. He also took a couple of steps. I hope none of you make fun of my behavior on this video. You will do anything to entertain your kids, or I will.

early morning conversations

We had K-Love on the radio on the way to school this morning. I guess I wasn't paying attention to what was being said on their news portion, but, Lucy was. They said something about evolution because Lucy immediately asked, " Moma, what is evolution?" Let's remember she is 8 years old and in the 3rd grade. I begin to tell her about evolution and explained to her that we do not believe in it and that we believe in creation. I told her that in just a few years in school and in college that teachers would teach her about this and she would have to learn it and be tested on it. The teachers might not believe it but they had to teach it, but to always remember that even though they teach it she would know it was wrong. God made us. HE created us as humans. I looked back in the rear view mirror and saw her face. Painted upon her face was a look of pure shock. She said, " Wait. Moma are you telling me that my teachers will teach me something that isn't true?" I responded to her with, " yes Lucy but, Jesus is our Lord and Savior and you know the truth and that's all that matters. Don't forget the truth". She is so innocent and trusting and we have so many conversations like this coming our way x3. I pray that God gives me the words and wisdom to talk to them and lead them. Being a child and probably a girl she immediately starts chanting- evolution-no creation-yes. It makes me want to hold my sweet babies close and shield them from the ugly world. I have to remember we need to be in the world and not of the world. Please pray for John and I and other parents of young children as we are teaching and guiding our children so that they will know the truth and stand for the truth.

Showering blind

As many of you know, without my contacts or glasses, I am blind as a bat. This morning while I was taking my shower I decided to put Jack in the bathroom with me to keep an "eye" on him. The shower is completely clear so I thought it would be perfect. After I had the water to the perfect temperature I got in. With the steam and the blindness I saw very quickly that I had to move fast. I immediately heard the bath tub come on. The faucets are on the front of the tub and very easy to "push" on. I thought to myself, he can't hurt anything, the water will go down the drain. Well...

When I opened the shower door I realized that my bath mat and towel were missing. I made two large steps over to the vanity to grab my glasses in a very wet state. I got my glasses on and find Jack standing by the tub and tickled to death over something. While looking around the bathroom I realized the clothes that I had just taken off before my shower, John's clothes from his shower, my towel, John's towel and washcloth and the bath mat were in the tub soaking wet. I quickly turned the water off and got a dry towel. If Jack would have had more time and had been a smidge stronger our scales would have gone over as well. He was sooo happy with himself. My life has changed so much since this wild sweet baby has come into our lives. I can't resist those big blue eyes and those big white teeth smiling at me. Bless him and bless my heart.

dis and dat

Jack at John's office. He was so proud of himself.

I am getting so bad about blogging. The truth is I can't find the time to sit down in one place long enough to think and type at the same time. Since I blogged last so much has gone on here. Lucy and Mady Kate got their first report cards for the year. They did really well. We are so proud of them. Jack goes to Mother's Day Out two days a week and he has finally quit crying when I drop him off. L&MK never did that so I'm always shocked when he does. He has started to reach out to Miss Angie when we get there. Let me tell you, picking Jack up in the afternoons is the best feeling in the world. He lets out the loudest scream with his hands high above his head. He then repeats MA MA Ma Ma over and over again. Sweet thang!!!

John is coming today after being away since Sunday morning. I have had a different little girl in my bed each night. It's funny because they both commented on how John's side of the bed smelled so good, just like Daddy. I can't wait for him to walk through the door. I tell him after a few days by myself with the kids, life becomes sort of "not fun". for me. Y'all know I love them and the girls aren't any trouble really, but we need Daddy's presence. Everyone puts on there best attitudes when we are both available.

It has been so cold the last few days, especially at night. We have concrete floors everywhere in the house except for the bedrooms. I have no idea how to turn on the gas logs because they have never been used. With John being gone, you know it was not attempted, not with gas involved. I would blow up the whole house. I have been keeping Jack with footed pj's during the day when we are here so he won't freeze his buns off. I wish they made them for me. I would so wear them when no one was around.

Jack, or 'big time" as one of John's employees calls him, is still not walking. The pediatrician told us not to be alarmed until he hits 17 months. Anyway, He can crawl so fast. I never know where he is because he glides across the "cold" floor so quietly. Mady Kate has this instrument that is a strap with bells attached and it closes around to make a circle with Velcro. I ended up putting it around Jack's ankle the other day so I would be able to keep up with him. He kept trying to get it off but failed each time so he gave up and wore it. I heard Jingle, Jingle all over the house. That thing was so helpful.

I would love to hear from y'all.

A Vampire lives in my house!

My sweet baby boy has become a VAMPIRE!!!!!!! The shoulder is his body part of choice. I am his subject. Help!!! What do I do?

10.01.2008

Today I am trying to clean house, do laundry and wrestle one certain baby boy. He is absolutely everywhere. He is cracking me up. Everything becomes a truck being pushed around the house. This includes truck noises as well. I am trying to do as much house work as I can because I worked Monday and Tuesday and feel very behind. My parents( Gram and Pappy) are coming to visit tomorrow and the kiddos and the adults are thrilled!

Yesterday Kathryn and I went to decorate a house in Millington. On the way back to Hernando, we stopped in Southaven for some much needed lunch. We love to see how cheap we can eat. The choice was Sam's. Two very large slices of pizza and two very large drinks for just over $5. It was really good and it filled us up quite a bit. I love a deal and love a yummy deal even more.

I'll be back to talk more when my house finally gets fully clean. Ha! Right. Fully clean!

Get rid of and make money!!!!!

Lately I have been trying to come up with creative ways to save money. John being the only one of us working full time+ 3 kiddos things get a little tight, well alot tight. Saturday I am having a garage sale. I LOVE having garage sales. I have one a year and sometimes more than that. The kids are constantly outgrowing their clothes and shoes and I also have "outgrown" alot of mine too. It's amazing how people actually get out early to see my "junk". We are hoping to get all 5 of us out and working. ( Jack will entertain). My friend Angela D. is the person to ask about going to and having "yard sales". She actually wants to write a book about it. Like, "Yard Sales for Dummies". She has taught me so much about the do's and don'ts of the sale. 1. Do not waste time or money pricing things. 2. Always have atleast 1 piece of furniture in your sale. 3. Have all baby gear and clothes up front and clearly stated on your sign. 4. Have a sale at the end of summer or the end of winter. 5. Merchandise your items like it's a store. Have I bored you all to tears? If you live in Hernando and have something to sell, call me and bring it over for a joint sale. Fun stuff. I'll come back to report on my very small sale.

HELP!!!

I'm making this short because I'm doing laundry, so here it is...

I have been having problems sleeping for about 3 weeks now. I want to fall asleep in the worst way but I just can't! I have tried taking Benedryl and Tylenol PM and that has not helped at all. What happens is that I can't sleep so I wander around the house trying to get sleepy, wake up John telling him that I can't sleep, eat something, drink something and even( sorry to say this) but run in place. I wake up fine and in the afternoons I feel drunk as Cooter Brown and almost sick at my stomach because I am so tired. By the time it's bedtime, I'm over it. Can't sleep. HELP!!! Any ideas?

What great weather, but what do we wear?

Today, my friend Kathryn and I worked. We had to go into the "hood" of Memphis to a warehouse and picked up furniture. Luckily I have stow-and-go seats in my van so it fit a coffee table and a small cute table and 4 chairs. Then off to John's office to deliver our purchases. After trying really hard to impress John, we put together the worlds heaviest coffee table. Needless to say, putting furniture together, setting it up and traipsing back and forth with decor really made made us hot. After we finished we got into the van and headed in to town to get something to eat. The wind was blowing, so we rolled the windows down and opened the sunroof and let the wind blow all over us. I have to say, I felt like a child again sticking our hands out windows. Without fail, we saw some pretty interesting things on our quest for food. We saw an elderly black lady on a street corner with a megaphone saying something, however, bless her, she didn't have it up close to her mouth so no one heard her "message". When we approached the intersection, I told Kat that I was going to "roll" down my window and tell her that she needed to talk directly into the thing for people to hear her. I was disappointed because she was finished. I wish I knew what she was trying to say though. We decided to go to Subway for lunch. We pulled up to the two-story building and noticed that it was not a "dine-in" establishment. On the side of the building was a metal staircase that lead to the "Pleasure Treasure". We knew that we were in one classy joint. We were very hungry so we went on in... To Subway.

Back to the weather... It has been rather cool in the morning here. I have no idea what to put the kids in. We have 1 or 2 outfits that are neither summer or winter so we have worn those things to school each day this week. The problem is that all 3 children need a wardrobe update. Now. It's great that they are growing and all but goodness, they sure need lots of stuff. Jack has gotten so big that his clothes unsnaps as he crawls. Do they wear summer clothes and freeze in the morning or wear winter clothes and burn up in the afternoons? So many kiddos. So many questions. So many sizes. Oh, and let's not forget shoes. That's a whole other story.

Pig Pen

I think I need a Roomba. Did I spell that correctly? It doesn't matter how many times I vacuum, a certain someone comes right along a dirties up the floor again. Because most of our house has concrete floors, we bought a canister vacuum because of the hard floor attachment. I literally use it in some form or fashion everyday. I think at Christmas I am going to stick a bow on it because it seems to be permanent decoration at our house. Jack loves to ride the canister part when I vacuum. You would think a baby would be scared of the noise, but he's okay with it. He thinks anything that moves is the best. He even drives baby dolls. The girls think it's funny for a while. If I had a Roomba, it could go constantly around my house. I wonder if I could tie it on the back end of Jack. That sure would make life easier. He's just like " Pig Pen", with the cloud of dirt and food trailing behind already. You know I inherited that vigorous scrub from my mom and Nana, so he doesn't stay that way long. Laundry calls...
